Esther Tickton Katz, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 with her sons Peter and Michael Katz at her side. Esther was predeceased by her husband, Lester Katz, of 69 years in 2019, Esther is survived by her son Peter (and wife Donna) along with his daughter Laura as well as her son Michael (Eileen) and their two children Stephanie Grossman (and husband Matt and their son Theo Thomas and their daughter Vivian Vera) and Jerome Katz (and wife Tori Lockhart) and their son James Andrew. Esther was RI proud to have lived her entire life in Rhode Island.
Esther graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1944, University of Rhode Island undergraduate in 1948 and with a Masters in Social Work in the early 1970’s. Esther was a social worker with the City of Providence as well as a school social worker for special education at Pleasant View Elementary School.
Funeral services will be private at Woonsocket Cemetery on Thursday. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, the family will not be holding Shiva. Donations may be made to Temple Emanuel in Providence, B’nai Israel Cemetery in Woonsocket or the University of Rhode Island in Esther's memory. A life well lived, a woman who dedicated her life to helping and loving people.
Arrangements are in the care of Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel, Providence.
