Frank Schiano Lamoriello, beloved father, grandfather and uncle, died peacefully on December 4, 2020 in Providence. He was 99 years old. He was born in Monte de Procida, Italy, the son of Vincenzo and Guiseppina Lamoriello. As a young man, he trained as a naval navigator and traveled around the world with the Italian Merchant Marine. After surviving two battles at sea during WW II, he emigrated to the United States in 1947 and settled with family members living in Johnston. He was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in the early 1950’s. He married Carmela (“Lena”) DeLuise (d.1975) and worked as a baker at her family’s business in Providence until his retirement.
Frank was above all a family man. He was devoted to his children and three wonderful granddaughters who were the lights of his life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, attending family celebrations and cooking his famous Italian Christmas Eve specialties. He attributed his good health and longevity to his twice daily walks, strict Mediterranean diet, and the care and attention of all who loved him.
He is survived by three children: Francine Lamoriello (husband Barry Robinson) of Cabin John, Maryland; Joyce (John) Rylander of North Providence; and Vincent (Nancy) Lamoriello of East Greenwich; granddaughters Jacqueline Lamoriello, Emily Rylander, and Jessica Rylander; and his brother, Michael Lamoriello of Brick, New Jersey. He was predeceased by brothers Mario and Antonio and sister Concetta Fevola.
Due to the pandemic, a memorial mass will be held at a future date. Donations in memory of Frank S. Lamoriello may be made to FARA ( Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance) 533 W Uwchlan Ave, Downingtown, PA 19335 . Please reference RFMG2020. Online at give.curefa.org/rfmg
