

Ferris, Fred D., Jr., 84, of Saint Elizabeth Manor, formerly of Peck Avenue, Bristol. Born in Newport, RI to Mary McDonald Ferris and Fred Dana Ferris, Sr. Married to the late Charlotte Napier Ferris. He attended Rogers High School, Newport, RI. Served in the U.S. Navy in World War II from1943-1946 aboard the USS Mertz. He worked as a Network Manager, Special Services, New England Telephone (now Verizon) for 41 years. Member and past Deacon of the First Congregational Church, Bristol, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Telephone Workers, Telephone Pioneers of America and Tin Can Sailors, USN. Past member and chair of the Bristol School Committee and past board member of the East Bay Self Help, Inc. Past member of the Bristol Republican Town Committee and the East Bay Bike Path Association. Trustee Emeritus of Rogers Free Library, Bristol. Survived by his children Fred Dana Ferris, III (Jayne) of Woodstock, Maryland, Margaret McKiernan (William) of East Providence, RI, Raymond Ferris (Linda) of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Charlotte Ferris of Bristol, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Brother of Raymond Ferris of Newport, RI and the late Barbara Murphy. His funeral will be held on MONDAY at 10:15 am from The WILBUR-ROMANO Funeral Home 615 Main St., Warren, with a funeral service at 11:30am in First Congregational Church in Bristol. Interment will follow with military honors in Portsmouth Cemetery.
