Glenda (Karp) Goldberg, age 88, of Encinitas, CA and formerly of Somerset, MA passed away Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Sea Crest Village Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late Gerald Goldberg.
Born in New Bedford, MA, a daughter of the late Hyman and Rose (Dinnerstein) Karp, she had lived in Massachusetts for many years before moving to California twenty years ago.
A graduate of Boston University and Bridgewater State University, she was a teacher and then Director of the Work-Study Program At Durfee High School in the Fall River School Department for over 30 years before retiring. Starting a chapter of The League of Women Voters, Glenda was a true social justice advocate; she always stayed very involved in local political events and she served on the Somerset Housing Authority Board for several years. A skilled seamstress, knitter, and maker of jewelry and pins.
Glenda enjoyed being social, spending time with friends, listening to jazz and classical music and she especially loved spending time with family.
She is survived by: her two children, Merryl Goldberg and her partner Sheri Hayes of Carlsbad, CA and Mark Goldberg and his husband Andres Sambrano of Lööne, Estonia and Béziers, France; her granddaughter, Liana Cai Goldberg of Carlsbad, CA and her brother, William Karp of Santa Fe, NM.

Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Plainville Cemetery, 1400 Old Plainville Road, New Bedford, MA.
