

Helen D’Ordine (Moriarty), age 79, passed away peacefully at home. She was the loving wife of the late Anthony D’Ordine. They were married forty-nine years, two hundred, eighty-six days. Born in Providence, daughter of the late Daniel and Olga (Bonde) Moriarty. Helen was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Moriarty, and sister, Maureen DeAngelis.
Helen graduated from Rhode Island College receiving both Bachelor and Master’s Degrees. She was a teacher in Providence, Cranston, and West Warwick, mostly in Early Childhood Education.
Helen was an adjunct professor at Rhode Island College, supervising student teachers. She volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for RI Family Court. Helen taught religious education for 25 years at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and was a choir member there. She belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma. Helen and Tony traveled to several European countries, enjoying their trips to Switzerland to visit their daughter, Chris and her husband, Herb. Helen also traveled to Turkey in 2000.
After retiring, Helen rediscovered her love for writing. Her late husband, Anthony, was her editor-in-chief. She was a member of The Writers’ Circle, attended the Block Island Poetry Project many years, was a RI Writing Project Fellow, an Ocean State Poet, and an Origami Poet. Helen’s chapbook, CONCLUSIVE ILLUSIONS was published in 2011, and her work was published in various publications. She wrote a clue card for the game Clever Endeavor.
Helen is survived by her beloved children Christine Doscher (Herbert) and Daniel D’Ordine (Jennifer Braine) and her beloved grandchildren Phoebe and Olivia Doscher, Nathan, Skylar, and Jane D’Ordine. Phoebe, Olivia, Nate, Skye and Janey were the diamonds in her tiara.
Chris and Dan would like to extend a special ‘Thank You’ to Helen’s wonderful niece, Linda D’Antuono for all her help and support. Many thanks to her family, friends, and Kayla for always saying, “Yes”.
Visitation with family will be held Thursday 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the RI Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
