KAUFMAN, HOWARD S., 83, died April 28, 2012. He was the husband of Rachel (Goldstein) Kaufman. Born in Providence, a son of the late Louis and Freida (Mencoff) Kaufman, he was a longtime resident of Rhode Island, currently residing in Wellington, FL.
Mr. Kaufman was a graduate of Providence College, and the Co-Owner of the former Globe Industries, retiring in 1978. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Kaufman previously served on the Boards of Citizens Bank, Miriam Hospital, and The Jewish Federation of RI. He was a member and former Vice President of Temple Beth El and had served on its Board for many years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Evan J. Kaufman of Brookline, MA and Deborah L. Kaufman of Coconut Grove, FL; his brother, Arnold Kaufman of Narragansett; and his sister, Tina Kaufman of Cypress, CA.
A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, May 4th at 1:00 PM in Sons of Israel & David Cemetery, Reservoir Ave., Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904. Shiva will be observed at his late residence following the service.
