

James W. DeWitt “Jim” 82, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Kent Hospital in Warwick. He was the loving husband of Jean D. (O’Connell) DeWitt. They were married for 56 years. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was a son of the late James O. and Vivian K. (Brown) DeWitt. Jim served his country proudly as a Lieutenant with the United States Navy. He was the owner of their family business, the Fairmount Foundry in Woonsocket for 42 years. An avid boater, he enjoyed sailing, fishing, was a member of the East Greenwich Yacht Club for 40 years, and loved working. Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Christopher J. DeWitt and his wife, Kerri, of East Greenwich, Pamela A. Colaneri and her husband, Frank, of Lakeville, MA, and Gerald D. DeWitt and his wife, Christine M. Perry, of Fairhaven, MA; a brothers, David DeWitt, of Carlsbad, CA; two sisters, Caroline Palmer, of Prescott, AZ and Katie Peters, of Escondido, CA; and his three grandchildren, Colby and Shelby DeWitt and Rebecca Colaneri. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 11:00 am, in the Quidnessett Baptist Church, 6356 Post Road, North Kingstown. Interment with military honors will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Visiting hours will be on Monday, April 27, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt. 117 – Exit 10 off I95) Warwick.
