James Bartholomew Duarte Jr., 58, of Providence, RI, passed away on May 14, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born in Providence on January 8, 1967, to James Bartholomew. Duarte and Alice V. Duarte.
James was known for his boisterous spirit, his deep love of cooking, and his active lifestyle. He enjoyed playing sports, going fishing, and staying athletic throughout his life. A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, James never missed a game and proudly wore his team’s colors year-round.
He is survived by his two brothers, Joseph and John Duarte; his sister, Beatrice Duarte; his children, James and Johnny Duarte; and daughter-in-law Jessica Duarte and his beloved grandchildren, Emma Duarte, Sofia Gomes, and Leo Floria. He also leaves behind his nieces Latoia Wilson, Tiffany Duarte, Diondra Duarte, Almerinda Duarte, Denise Perkins and Johneah Duarte and nephews Paul Duarte, John Rivera, and Jysiah Duarte, all of whom will remember him fondly. James was predeceased by his parents; his granddaughter, Julia Duarte; and the mother of his children, Margie Flinkfelt.
