

LINCOLN- James A. McBride,"Jay" 61, of Beverly Drive, Lincoln, RI and Estero, FL, died peacefully on June 9, 2007, at RI Hospital surrounded by his loving family. James was the devoted husband of Phyllis (Newsham) McBride for 42 years. He was born in Providence, RI on December 23, 1945. He was the son of the late Priscilla (Blight) and James H. McBride, of Providence, RI. James was the loving father of James A. McBride, Jr. and his wife Dr. Marcia L. Valente, of Marlborough, MA., and Andrew J. McBride and his wife Debra J. McBride of Hope Valley, RI. He was the adored grandfather of Patrick, Meaghan and Colin McBride of Hope Valley, RI, and Elizabeth and James McBride of Marlborough, MA. He was the admired brother of Kevin F. McBride of Wakefield, RI and Rosemary L. McBride of Quaker Hill, CT. James was a beloved brother-in-law, uncle and friend to countless others. He was a communicant at St. Jude's church in Lincoln, RI. He earned his BA degree from Providence College and was certified by The Wharton School at The University Of Pennsylvania as a Real Estate Investment Analyst. While earning his undergraduate degree, he began working at RI Hospital Trust National Bank in 1965 as a coin washer. After nearly 25 years of active employment there, James had achieved the title of Senior Vice-President of Commercial Lending. Following this successful career, James worked as a consultant for 10 years, specializing in commercial real estate lending and asset management for many banks in the New England area. He also volunteered his time serving on the Board of Directors of Bannister House and was involved with numerous community organizations. He retired in 1998.Shortly following retirement, James became seriously ill with complications from diabetes, including kidney failure. He underwent kidney transplant surgery a year later, thanks to a donated kidney from his loving brother Kevin, and was granted a new lease on life. James spent his remaining retirement years actively traveling with his wife, enjoying his passion for photography, and the company of his five grandchildren, many friends and close family.James will be missed tremendously, and his life will be celebrated for the exceptional impact he had on so many. His funeral will be held Wednesday June 13, at 8:45AM at The Russell J. Boyle Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Jude's Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln, RI. Burial will follow at St Joseph's Cemetery, West Greenwich, RI. Visiting hours will be Tuesday June 12, from, 4-8 PM.
