
HOROWITZ, JEROME, 90, died September 5, 2012. He was the loving husband of Irene (Garber) Horowitz. Born in Providence, a son of the late Samuel and Ida (Granofsky) Horowitz, he was a lifelong resident of the city. Mr. Horowitz was the owner of the former Strand Appliance Co., which he founded in 1945, and retiring in 2010. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Horowitz was a 32 Degree Mason, a member of the Overseas Lodge of the Masons, and a Shriner. He was a member of Touro Fraternal Association and the Fraternal Order of the Police. Besides his wife of 68 years, he is survived by his children, Sidney and his wife Carol of Warwick, Steven and his wife Cynthia of Narragansett and Robin of Cumberland; his grandchildren, “Sharon, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Jaime, Rachel, Lindsay & Kaile; and his 7 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Lena, Ann, William, Charles, Philip, Minnie, Susie & Ethel. Funeral services will be held TODAY, Friday, September 7th at 1:00 PM at Sugarman, Sinai Memorial Chapel, 458 Hope St., Providence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, 146 Clifford St., Providence, RI 02903. Shiva will be observed at Epoch Assisted Living, 1 Butler Ave., Providence on Sun 1-4 PM.
