John Joseph Breen, Jr

John J. Breen, Jr. 91, of Providence, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Joan M. (Bruneau), son John, and his wife Nancy of Portsmouth, daughter Ellen of Del Mar, CA, son Peter, and his wife Candace of Barrington, and his grandchildren; Christopher, Faith, Joseph, Aiyanna, and Peter. Professor emeritus Breen served on the faculty in the Business Department of Providence College for 46 years. He was a graduate of Providence College, Columbia University and Clark University. He served briefly in the U.S. Army during WW II. In his retirement he was a discussion leader at Hamilton House. His funeral will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, in St. Augustine’s Church, 635 Mt. Pleasant Ave, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston, RI. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
