Born in Dorchester, Ma., beloved son of Helen M. (Walsh), and the late James H Cain (Ret.PPD).
John grew up in the Smith Hill section of Providence, but his summers were spent in Chepachet, R.I., at the "Beach House", where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and swimming on Keach Pond. He returned there many times as an adult, to fish and reminisce about all the beautiful summers he spent there, running free. John was so devoted to his parents, he would speak of wanting nothing more than for his parents to "be proud of him", hence his decision to join the army. He served his country wholeheartedly until his honorable discharge. He sought work, and obtained a position in security at Women & Infants hospital, where he continued until his retirement in 2019. John's love for his family will be so missed...but we find comfort, knowing he will be the first of his siblings to spend eternity in heaven with his dad, whom John loved so much.
In addition to his mom, Helen Cain, he leaves three brothers: James, of New Canaan, Ct., William, of North Providence, and Robert Cain, of Providence, two sisters: Deborah J Provencher of Pawtucket, and Peggy Proulx, of Johnston, as well as many nieces and nephews.
John's visitation will be held on Friday, July 30th, 2021 at 8:30 a.m., from the Russell J. Boyle Funeral Home, 331 Smith St., Providence. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Burial, with military honors, will be held in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope Hospice Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, R.I. 02905 in John's memory would be so appreciated, as they were so loving and kind during his stay there.
