

Crowley, John J. 88, of New London Avenue, passed away Saturday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of Rita M. (McAvoy) Robinson-Crowley. They had been married for thirty-five years.Born in Providence, a son of the late James A. and Mary V. (Murphy) Crowley, he lived in Cranston most of his life.Mr. Crowley worked as a machinist for the Leesona Corporation for twenty years. He was also a self-employed painter for many years. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop # 27. Mr. Crowley served our nation proudly during WWII in the U.S. Navy.Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon A. Schaaff of Overland Park, KS, three step daughters, Patricia Hill of North Kingstown, Susan Dennis and Maryann Foeller, both of Warwick, a brother, Charles F. Crowley of Montreal, Canada,two nieces, Carol Angelone of Cranston and Cynthia Elmekis of Boston, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He was a brother of the late James J. Crowley and Veronica C. Morton. His funeral will be held Thursday at 8:45 from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Matthew Church, Elmwood Avenue, Cranston. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visting Hours Wednesday 4-7 pm.
