

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Sarkis and Isabella (Vartanian) Kashmanian. John attended Classical High School, where he was inducted into the Classical Sports Hall of Fame. Later, he pursued his education at Bryant College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and serving as the captain of the baseball team. In recognition of his scholastic and athletic achievements at Bryant, he was honored with the 1975 Vincent Votolato, Sr. Award.
John embarked on a distinguished banking career, initially working for Hospital Trust Bank, and concluding his career at Bank of America. Alongside his banking endeavors, John was the proud owner and operator of Countryside Antiques, specializing in baseball memorabilia. In his leisure time, he generously shared his passion for baseball by coaching in North Providence Little League, North Providence Babe Ruth League, and Saint Raphael Academy JV Baseball.
In addition to his cherished wife Ann, he is survived by his son John A. Kashmanian and wife Phoebe of Jacksonville, FL, daughter Lauren Kashmanian of Providence, brother Richard M. Kashmanian and wife Margaret of Arlington, VA, and sister-in-law Lucinda Kashmanian of Milton, Delaware. He was also the brother of the late Robert S. Kashmanian. John leaves behind 2 grandchildren: Margaret Kashmanian and Vera Kashmanian. In addition, he leaves behind ten nieces and nephews: Alex Kashmanian, Nicholas Kashmanian, Julie Kashmanian, Anna Kashmanian, Colin Sheehan, Kerri Sheehan, Emily Sheehan, Ryan Sheehan, Maeve Sheehan, and Pierce Sheehan.
The Kashmanian family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff at Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation for the care provided to their beloved John.
John’s funeral will commence on Monday, December 18, at 9:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at St. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence. The graveside interment will take place at North Burial Ground, 5 Branch Ave, Providence.
Visiting hours are scheduled for Sunday, December 17, from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence, RI 02909, or Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation, 100 Borden Street, Providence, RI 02903.
