John D. Mancone

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Luciano and Albina (Neri) Mancone. He was the devoted father of David L. Mancone of North Providence and John M. Mancone and his wife Diane of North Smithfield. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, John, Michelle, Sarah and David. He was the brother of the late Anthony Mancone and Adele Siravo.

He was raised in the north end of Providence where he attended LaSalle Academy. He worked for the RI Department of Attorney General as an office Manager under Herbert DeSimone and Richard Israel.

He was appointed Personnel Director for the City of Providence for many years and also served as Chief of Staff to the former Mayor of Providence, Vincent A. Cianci. After retiring from the City of Providence, he worked as an operations supervisor for the Providence Civic Center Authority.

He was a 3rd-Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony Council. He was inducted into the Wanskuck Boys Club Hall of Fame in 1993 and was a long-time member of the St. Anthony Society and the RI Bocce League.

Visitation Wednesday, 4-7 p.m. with his funeral on Thursday at 10 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org
