

Born in Providence he was the son of the late John Silva, Sr. and Vivian ( Rollins ) Thomas.
John was a well-known and respected employee at the University of Rhode Island were he worked in the Facilities and Repair Department. John has worked for the State of Rhode Island for almost twenty years. Prior to his employment at URI, he was a self employed private contractor.
John's passions were working with his hands and creating projects that had lifelong memories and happiness for all those he collaborated with and developed for. In addition, John was a music fanatic and a movie enthusiast.
Early in John's life, he served our great country in the National Guard. His experiences serving provided him with discipline, hard work, and dedication. He was a proud soldier.
John dedicated his life to his family, friends and loved ones. He enjoyed spending most of his spare time, laughing and joking, caring and helping, while providing guidance and years of wisdom and experiences. John was respected and loved by all of those he encountered, whether at work, in the community or sitting with his beloved family.
Besides his wife, he leaves his daughter, Joslin Silva of Cranston, grandchildren, Aaron J. Jones, August M. Silva both of Cranston, sisters, Rosalyn Soares and her husband John of Providence, Vivian Graham and her husband James of Providence and Mary Silva-Frazier and her husband Marshall of Providence. He was the brother of the late Evelyn Underwood and her husband Herbert Underwood of North Carolina.
Funeral Service will be held Monday November 4, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Calling hours are 11:00-2:00pm prior to the Funeral Service.
