Varin, John H., age 70, a retired Providence Fire Fighter died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at his home in Saunderstown RI. He was the husband of the late Pauline A. (Belanger) Varin. He was born in Providence, a son of the late George and Mary(Blanchette) Varin. He had lived in Providence most of his life before moving to Saunderstown. He was appointed to the Providence Fire Dept. on 1972, where he served for 20 years retiring as a Chiefs Aide in 1991. He was a member of the Providence Police and Fire Fighters Assoc., Providence Fire Fighters Union Local 799 and the International Assoc. of Fire Fighters .He was also a Marine Corps Veteran. He is survived by two sisters, Carol Ann Wagner of North Kingstown and Joan "Dolly" Hodges of St. Paul MN, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 9 am on Saturday , followed by a funeral service at 11am in The Russell J. Boyle & Son 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick.
