Born in Providence, RI, he was the beloved son of Yomari Lugo-Rodriguez. He was the brother of I’yainez Garris, great-grandson of Nilda Padilla; grandson of Maria Lugo; nephew of Jose Lugo, Samantha Castro and Irishia Flores; step-son of Devyn. He also leaves many cousins, extended family members and friends.
Joniel was a smart, loving, and caring young man. He loved to laugh and make jokes. He loved to play sports, especially basketball where he was amazing on the court. “Papi” is what his mom affectionately called him, “Jayy” is what his teammates always called him. Joniel was on the path to be a young, amazing, and talented rapper. Joniel was loved by many. He was a handsome Prince that always shined brighter than a star. A shooting star, who has shot his way into heaven.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. with a funeral service on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence.
