Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Francis J. and Adeline S. (Morreira) Kenney.
He had worked for the City of Providence as an inspector for the Dept. of Environmental Services for over 30 years. Joe was also a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War and he was a member of Local 1033. He was an avid golfer and was a sports enthusiast and fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and the Boston Red Sox. He is finally reunited with his beloved dog and best friend, Rebecca.
Joe was the father of Michael J. Kenney, with whom he resided, Brian J. Kenney and Jeffrey F. Kenney and brother of Raymond Kenney and the late Sylvia M. Kenney and Francis Kenney, Jr.
His visitation will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a service at 7:00 pm in the Pontarelli-Marino Funeral Home 971 Branch Avenue Providence, RI. Burial will be Friday at 12:00 pm in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI
