

Honorable Judge Thomas D. Pucci passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family in North Providence, Rhode Island on July 10, 2015 at age 89. He was a resident of Rhode Island and spent many years in Marco Island, Florida with his beloved late wife of 63 years, Marie (DePasquale). He is survived by his son John Pucci and his wife Angela Dalia, and his daughters Jeanne Dolan and her husband James, Joan Bennet and her husband Douglas, Marie McGovern and her husband Frank, Marian Pucci, and Mary Jane Euell and her husband John. He was the loving grandfather (Nonno) to 16 grandchildren: Jocelyn (Pucci) Lanyi, Adrienne (Pucci) Klimko; Thomas and Mary Dolan; Jeffrey, Matthew, and Jennifer Bennet; Claire and Grace McGovern; Jessica (Turco) Gookin; Emily, Rebecca, and David Turco; and Andrew, Mark, and Rachel Euell. He was predeceased by a grandson, David John Turco. He was the great-grandfather of Carter Lanyi. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by parents, John and Marion Pucci, brother Joseph E. Pucci and sister Mary (Pucci) Sammataro.He graduated from Westerly High School in 1943 and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Brown University in 1948, after proudly serving two years in the US Navy during World War II. Tom graduated from the Boston University School of Law in 1952.After law school, Tom and his partner founded the successful law firm of Pucci & Goldin. Tom was named a Justice of the Providence Municipal Court in 1969 and in 1977 was appointed Chairman of the Rhode Island Public Building Authority. In 1981, he was the recipient of the Annual Award for Distinguished Service to State Government. Tom also enjoyed politics serving as Campaign Manager for the late Governors Frank Licht and J. Joseph Garrahy. He was a delegate to the Rhode Island Constitutional Convention and was a Rhode Island Commodore. Tom was a lobbyist and was vice president of the Rhode Island Reds hockey organization for many years. He served as secretary and legal counsel for Bonanza Bus Lines.He dedicated his life to being a devoted husband and father. Tom was very proud of his Catholic faith, he and Marie attended several religious retreats around the world and had a private audience with Pope Saint John Paul II. Tom was active at San Marco Catholic Church during his time in Florida, serving as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church and a supporter of St. Patrick Academy in Providence. Always looking to spread God's word, he led in several prayer groups and cancer support groups. He truly believed in and lived by God's grace.He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
