Kenneth DeFusco Jr., 59, of Johnston, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 25, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Providence, Ken was the beloved son of the late Kenneth DeFusco, Sr. and Delores (Harrison) Pompei.
Ken was the forever love and husband of Tammie DeFusco, a devoted father to Ashley DeFusco, a loving stepfather to Tori and Michael Villella, and a cherished brother to Ronald DeFusco, Rhonda Bonaventure (husband Michael), Joseph Pompei, and the late Regina Hampton, uncle to Lauren Cirello (husband Nick), Robert Hampton, Jacqueline DeFusco, Michael DeFusco, and OG (grandfather) to Asher Villella. He was a man of deep faith and was, first and foremost, a devoted follower of our Lord Jesus Christ, whom he truly knew and loved.
Guided by his faith, Ken became a cofounder of the House of David Ministries. On weekends, he and his fellow brothers in Christ could often be found preaching the Word of God in inner cities throughout Rhode Island and helping those in need, inspiring countless individuals to seek and follow Jesus. His passion for sharing God's message and his compassion to help all, touched many lives and left a lasting spiritual legacy.
God blessed him with many more years in which he was able to watch his daughter play hockey, graduate high school and then college. He understood God's amazing grace and he was thankful that he was able to share in special moments with Ashley.
Ken was also the proud owner of Ken DeFusco's Carpet Service, a trade he learned from his family, where his strong work ethic, integrity, and kindness were evident to all who knew him.
Warm sunshine, the ocean or the pool, with good food, great friendships and loving family around always made him happy. And life was not complete without a dog or two to snuggle with.
An amazing friend, and an inspiration to many, Ken will be remembered for his generosity, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Ken wanted memories of him to make us smile and warm our hearts. He was not afraid to leave and looked forward to where he was going. Home to our Lord in the most glorious place and to hear “Well done my good and faithful servant”.
He will live in our hearts forever.
His celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at the Pontarelli-Marino Funeral Home on Branch Avenue, Providence. Visiting hours are 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by a 12:00pm service. Joining in the service was one of Ken's last wishes.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ken's ministry at houseofdavid.net
