Leonel D. Ibanez

Leonel D. Ibanez, 64, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Guatemala, he was the son of the late Lorenzo Arrecis and Norberta Ibanez. Leonel was the cherished husband of Carmen (Contreras) Ibanez and the beloved brother of Elsa, Reyna, and Roselya Arrecis.

A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Leonel's greatest joy was his family. He was the proud and loving father of Jonathan, Luis, and Angel Ibanez. Leonel worked in housekeeping for many years before his retirement, earning the respect and appreciation of those who worked alongside him through his dedication and strong work ethic.

Leonel had a lifelong passion for soccer. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing the sport, and throughout his life he remained an enthusiastic fan. He found great happiness in tending to his garden, reading his Bible, and challenging himself with puzzles. His quiet strength, kind heart, and pure intentions will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Through life’s blessings and tribulations, he always put his family first. His selfless, unwavering love for his family will be the legacy left behind for his future generations.

His visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Romano Funeral Home, 627 Union Avenue, Providence, RI 02909. Relatives and friends are also invited to gather directly at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 178 Dexter Street, Providence, RI 02907, for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be private.
