Linda Ann Kane, age 65, of Providence, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday September 17, 2025. Linda is the daughter of the late Dolores J. Barone-Santopadre and the late David Kane. She leaves behind her sister, Dyan Kane; brother-in-law, Robert Alexander; and beloved step-siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Taking her love-of-food cue from her Nana Billie Connell, whose Dickinson Avenue home she grew up in, Linda Kane became a gifted, Providence-based, award winning chef specializing in Mediterranean cuisine, with an emphasis on nutrition, sustainability, and locally sourced ingredients. She earned degrees in culinary arts and food service management from Johnson & Wales, where she later taught for several years. Her early cheffing experiences include working at Florida’s Walt Disney World, where she honed her detailed and meticulous approach to international food preparation and presentation.
With a hands-on, hard-driven personality, she has owned & operated 3 restaurants in Providence, Bristol, and Orlando. While employed as a private chef for a wealthy Chicago family, she also made time to serve as a local consultant/caterer there. After eagerly returning to Providence, she and her business partner formed Sauce on the Side Productions, where she thrived with her own personal catering enterprise, and created the infamous Rhode Island Red HOT Sauce and Cowboy Ketchup you’ll find in your local grocery. At Amos House, aside from generating daily in-house meal menus for 10’s of thousands of people in need, she directed all off-premise catering for clients throughout Rhode Island, and for Community MusicWorks (who generously donate their live music and venue for Linda’s memorial services.)
Also a freelance poet & lyric writer, she and her sister Dyan produced several original songs (find “Someone Tell My Heart” on ITunes.) A natural born & beloved mentor of those under her watchful eye at Amos House, she became increasingly in-demand in Rhode Island - mostly by word-of-mouth.
Aside from the amazing food events she and her staff produced, she possessed a generous & caring spirit, a side-splitting, diabolical sense of humor, boundless energy and an authentic love and curiosity for all people, especially her close friends, who she always found time to bake special treats for birthdays and social gatherings.
Ms. Linda Kane will be sorely missed.
Her life will be celebrated on Sunday, September 28th, from 6-8:30pm at the beautiful Community Music Works, 1326 Westminster Street @ Dexter, Providence, RI 02909. Food drinks and music will be provided, compliments of Amos House and MusicWorks. Street parking is plentiful. Arrive early.
