

Providence Manuel F. Ramos, 89, of Camden Avenue, died Sunday evening at home. He was the husband of Idalina (Gomes) Ramos. Mr. and Mrs. Ramos celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past July.Born in Sao Nicolau, Cabo Verde, he was a son of the late Francisco and Francisca (Conceicao Silva) Ramos.Mr. Ramos was a machinist for the Imperial Knife Company for nearly twenty years, and later worked as a food preparer at Butler Hospital for several years before retiring.He was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church, and served in the Portuguese Army during World War II.In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Antonio M. Ramos, (PFD), and John M. Ramos, (RI Sheriffs Dept); three daughters, Hilda R. Correia and her husband Keith, Elcy I. Ramos, and Elzira I. Ramos; a step-daughter, Silvia I. Pinto and her husband Luis; a brother, Joaquin Ramos; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and many beloved nephews and nieces in Italy, Holland, Cabo Verde and the U.S.. He was the father of the late Francisco G. Ramos, and brother of the late Antonio, Jose, Joao, Adminia and Maria Francisca Ramos.The funeral will be held Friday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Patrick Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours Thursday, 4 - 8 pm.
