Mary R. Fontaine

Born in Taunton, MA, she was a daughter of the late Felisberto and Firmina (Vieira) Rocha.

Mary worked for the State of Rhode Island, Department of Administration as a personnel aide for 24 years, until her retirement in 1999.

Mary had a strong faith and was a regular communicant of St. Veronica Chapel.  Her love for her children, grandchildren and extended family was immeasurable and she would travel to see them at the drop of a hat.  Mary had an avid love for wine with ice on the side, music, theatre and other fine arts.   She had a deep commitment to her culture and visited Portugal often.   Playing high low jack was a social highlight for Mary, who  participated in many different card leagues spanning over several years.  She also enjoyed bowling, bingo, and never missed an event for her children or grandchildren.   Everyone who knew Mary, including so many medical professionals, made beautiful connections with her loving and vibrant spirit.  

She leaves a son, Robert Fontaine and his companion, Carol Campanini, two daughters, Cyndy Fontaine and her husband Chris Wilde, and Lisa Fontaine, her loving grandchildren, Ryan Fontaine, Danielle Fontaine, Jaclynn Russo, Jordan Owensby, and two great grandchildren, Vieira Russo & Russell Fontaine.  In addition, she leaves two brothers John T. Rocha, and Anthony Rocha, and two sisters, Barbara O’Brien and Frances Howles. She was a sister of the late Felisberto Rocha, Angelina Marmo, and Theresa Mazzone.

Her funeral will begin on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 8:30 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rte. 117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am  in Saint Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Monday, July 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope Hospice South Team, 1085 North Main Street, Providence , RI 02905 or to South County Home Health, 14 Woodruff Avenue, Narragansett, RI 02882 in her memory would be appreciated.
