Cranston Mary E. York, 82, of Pleasant Street, died peacefully Saturday morning, June 16, 2012, at Kent Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Donald T. York. They were married nearly sixty years.Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Roby) Green. Mrs. York worked for the Providence Gas Company for twenty years, retiring in 1991. She was an avid bowler, and participated in the Lang's Bowling League in Cranston for many years. Beside her husband Donald, she leaves a son, Donn S. York; two daughters, Joyce E. York and Patti L. Whiting; a brother, Edward Green; eight loving grandchildren and eleven loving great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her son, Steven M. York. The visiting hours will be held Wednesday morning, from 8:00 - 10:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, with a funeral service at 10:00, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
