Matthew “Matty” H. Briggs, 58, previously of North Providence, passed away September 17, 2014. Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of Lucy (Mann) Briggs and the late Howard Briggs. He is also survived by his brother, Howard Briggs; one niece and one nephew; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Matty was an avid Miami Dolphins and Boston Red Sox fan.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
