He was the son of the late Normand and Doris (Marchand) Langlais; father of Kevin T. Langlais (Kerri) and Darcy Hardy (John); grandfather of Charlotte, Finn and Colin; beloved companion of Georgia Bonaminio with whom he resided.
Norm proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy Seabee, including a tour in Vietnam. Throughout the years he remained active with Veterans organizations across Rhode Island, serving as President of the Seabee Museum for six years. As a child he learned woodworking from his father, a craft he would later turn into his career. Norm was a man who could build or fix just about anything and generously shared his time and skills with seemingly everyone he met. He traveled the world, compiled a wealth of life experience, and you could always count on his willingness to share his wisdom. His devotion to his parents, children, grandchildren and companion was legendary. Norm was a proud man who was never afraid to say “I love you” and while he passed much too soon, he died a very happy man.
Visitation and funeral will be held Thursday 8:30-9:30 a.m. followed by a service at 9:30 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter RI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate
