Richard Edgar Hartmann

Richard E. Hartmann, 71, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Patricia J. (DeCosta) Hartmann. They were married for 20 years. Born in Jamestown, New York, he was the son of the late John P. Hartmann and Alice (Serrano) Hartmann. He worked as a jewelry polisher for forty years before retiring. Richard was a dedicated and hardworking man. He loved fishing, and watching the New England Patriots. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Denise DeLomba, Richard Hartmann, Jr., Barbara Ciarlo, Richelle Hartmann, Carol Hartmann, James Hartmann, Shirley Hartmann, Daniel DeCosta, and Tiffany DeCosta; two brothers, John and William Hartmann; six sisters, Gloria Wright, Barbara Avella, Judith Hill, and Deborah, Alice, Susie, and Mary Hartmann; and 28 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Regina Hartmann and brother of the late Robert and Peter Hartmann. Richard’s funeral with visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 9:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
