Richard A. McDermott

WarwickRichard A. McDermott, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on Saturday surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Georgiana (Dandeneau) McDermott. They were married for 64 years.Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Edward and Ellen (Murray) McDermott.Richard was an architectural manager for Benjamin Moore for 31 years before retirement. He served our country proudly as a member of the 43rd infantry division of the Army.Besides his wife, he leaves his loving children, Richard McDermott, Denise O'Connor, Robert McDermott, Edward McDermott, and Teresa Johnson. He was the loving father of the late Catherine Green and Stephen McDermott. He was also the loving brother of Sr. Catherine McDermott C.N.D. and Mary Gontarek, and loving grandfather of his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.Richard's family would like to extend special thanks to the many doctors and members of the Visiting Nurses Association for their kind efforts in taking care of Richard in his time of need.His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rte. 117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Burial will be private.
