

MIDDLETOWN - LANG, Rita E., of Middletown and Cranston died Sunday at Newport Hospital. Born in Providence to the late Gladys E. (Healey) and Alfred J. Paquin, Mrs. Lang was 85 years old.She leaves her beloved husband of 62 years, Everett J. Lang and their children Gregory J. Lang and his wife Diane of Cranston; Alicia E. Lang of Middletown, her caregiver; and Karen Lang Fusaro and her husband Michael of Greenville.Mrs. Lang was an alumna of St. Mary's Academy of the Visitation in Providence and Bryant-Stratton College where she studied business and accounting. She was employed at the Newport Torpedo Station before founding Ga-Rel Mfg. Co. in 1950 with her husband. Mrs. Lang continued to serve as President of Ga-Rel until her death and was proud to be working with her children. She was the devoted grandmother of Jennifer E., Melanie E., Andrea J., and Katherine A. Lang; Christopher M., Erin E., and Nicholas P. Fusaro; and great grandmother of Kaitlyn Lang-Ricci. She was the beloved sister of Mrs. Jean L. White of East Greenwich and of the late Alfred J. Jr., and Raymond Paquin. Mrs. Lang is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Mrs. Lang was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Cranston and of St. Mary Church in Newport. A lifelong student and member of the Catholic Church, Mrs. Lang was committed to a number of charitable organizations and was especially supportive of faith based efforts to educate children and to alleviate the effects of poverty on the elderly.While she was most devoted to her family and business, Mrs. Lang made time to persue a number of interests, including painting and studying the French language. She was a Girl Scout and troop leader; an avid reader; and a skilled knitter and seamstress. She traveled extensively with her husband and enjoyed vacationing with her family throughout her life.Mrs. Lang will be remembered for her generous spirit and her sharp wit. She brought her family much joy and inspired them with her love for learning and unflagging work ethic.Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Mrs. Lang and to honor her memory. Her funeral will be Saturday at 7:45am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Ave., Cranston. Burial will be Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery. Visitation Friday 4-8pm.
