

West Warwick Robert D. Brown, 76, of East Greenwich Avenue, and formerly of Winona Street, Providence, died peacefully Wednesday morning, March 12, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of MaryAnne (Seddon) Brown for the past fifty-six years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Lois (Reid) Brown, he was a lifelong city resident before moving to West Warwick eight months ago. Bob was a firefighter for the Providence Fire Department for twenty-five years, retiring in 1985. He had also served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps for several years, and earned an Associate Degree in Fire Science from the Community College of Rhode Island. He was a fan of the New York Yankees. He was a member of the Providence Firefighters Union, Local 799, the Providence Permanent Firemen’s Relief Association and the Retired Providence Police and Firefighters Association. In addition to his wife MaryAnne, he leaves a daughter, Sue Leilani Baris and her husband, Joseph Baris, Jr. (Chief, West Warwick Fire Department); two sons, Robert D. Brown, Jr. (Ret Sergeant, Providence Police Department) and Richard Brown; a sister, L. Eleanor King; seven loving grandchildren, Joseph (Carrie) Baris III, Courtney (Gregory WWFD) Milburn, Brittney (Lance Cpl Joshua USMC) Rife, Robert Brown III, Sgt Vincent Church USMC, Richard Brown Jr, and Daniel Brown; and four great-grandchildren, Jillian and Payton Baris and Colin and Mia Milburn. He was a brother of the late Arthur R. Brown. The funeral will be held Saturday, at 8:15 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Christ the King Church, 130 Legris Avenue, West Warwick. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
