Robert George Cayer

Robert George Cayer, age 79, of Smithfield Road,and formerly of Providence, died Monday, January 18, 2016 at Fatima Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Cyril and Laura C. (Trudell) Cayer.Robert worked for the former Outlet Company as a porter from 1965-1982.He was a communicant of Saint Bartholomew Church, Providence. Robert was a very active member of the Holy Name Society, Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Respect Life Committee. He was an usher for over 25 years receiving a Papal Blessing from Pope Francis for his long time service to his church.Robert is survived by his brothers, Richard W. Cayer of East Providence, Peter E. Cayer of Cranston, a sister, Linda A. Lovatt and her husband Gary of Warwick, and his companion, Mary Nelson of Providence, also his nieces and nephews.Robert's funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Saint Bartholomew Church, Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
