

Robert H. Mink, of Providence, passed peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 11, 2015. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Marie P. (Danella) Mink for over 62 years.Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Albert H. and Sadie A. (Sunderland) Mink.He was an Eagle Scout, studied draftsmanship at RI School of Design, and was a skilled carpenter and craftsman. Bob was a firefighter with the Providence Fire Department for 35 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Retired Providence Police and Firefighters Association and the Providence Permanent Firemen's Relief Association and served in the Rhode Island National Guard for several years. He was a member of the RI Racing Pigeon Association for over 70 years. He loved raising and racing homing pigeons. This passion brought him all over the world, winning many awards. Bob was an avid card player that would tell you he "wrote the book" on cards. He enjoyed gardening, more often than not sharing his bounty with his neighbors and family. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and was the ultimate Yankees and Patriots fan. Bob was a great Dad and Hero to his four daughters, Deborah A. Lamberton, Robin A. (James, PFD) Okolowitcz, Patricia M. Parisi, and Brenda L. (Mark, Ret. PFD) Tillman; proud 'Pop' to nine grandchildren, Ryan, Jennifer, Jill, Jonathan, Jeffrey (PFD), Joshua, Santino, Lucas and Jacob; and two great-grandsons. He was the brother of Albert E. Mink and the late Muriel Marot.The funeral will be held on Tuesday, at 8:45, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Rocco Church, 931 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to South Side Community Land Trust, 101 Somerset St., Prov., RI 02907 in his memory will be appreciated.
