

CranstonRobert E. Stimpson, 55, of Cranston, owner of Pop's Place Restaurant in Cranston, passed away peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital on August 21, 2009 after a brief illness. Born in Providence on July 15th, 1954, he was a son of the late John A. and Dolores (Meanerhon) Stimpson. Bob and his family purchased Pop's Place on Dyer Ave, Cranston, 3 years ago which was a long time wish of he and his wife of 30 years to own a little breakfast and lunch spot. He worked in the restaurant business all his adult life at several different restaurants in Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts through his 37 year career as a cook, including The Cozy Grille of Warwick and J & D's of Johnston. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Howarth) Stimpson of Cranston, his son Daniel A. Stimpson of Cranston and much loved nephew John A. Mottola of Cranston, siblings Gail Mimnaugh of Cranston, Jean & Francis Howell of East Greenwich, Lori Gallagher of Coventry, Edward & Marie Stimpson of Smithfield, and Paul & Carol Stimpson of Cranston and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John A. Stimpson Jr. of Providence and the late James Stimpson of Coventry. The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, at 11:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Tuesday, 5 - 8 pm.
