Roberta Anne FitzGerald

Roberta Anne FitzGerald, 86, of Providence, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024 at her home. Born in Providence, she was the only child of the late Robert Thomas FitzGerald and Leah (Damon) FitzGerald.

Roberta was a graduate of St. Mary Academy, Bay View (1955). The Massachusetts General Hospital Nursing School (1959) and Boston College (1963). She also earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Yale University (1966).

In her early career, Roberta worked as a public health nurse as well as a visiting nurse in Providence and later joined the faculty of Yale School of Nursing.

Roberta lived in Manhattan, NY for more than four decades and was a devoted New York Yankees fan. She returned to live in Providence in June of 2015 at Laurelmead Cooperative where she cultivated many wonderful friendships.

Roberta is survived by cherished cousins and countless friends who are the family she spent her lifetime nurturing.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 10:00 am in St. Sebastian Church, 67 Cole Avenue, Providence. Entombment to follow in Swan Point Cemetery.
