Roxanne Germond (née Germano) passed away peacefully in her home in North Providence, RI on February 9, 2026. Born premature and hard of hearing, Rockie (Rocco) entered this world with the tenacity to persist through adversity and overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges. Known for her fiery spirit, Rockie approached life with courage, curiosity, and humor. She had an appreciation for art, literature and spirituality, and was creative and resourceful in most endeavors. Whether second-hand shopping, spinning and weaving wool, or quilting with scrap materials, she possessed the unique ability to see potential beyond face-value. Maybe it was this ability, or maybe it was her innate kindness, that compelled her to endlessly champion the underdog and to pursue work as a caretaker for several years.
Rockie was a loyal, life-long friend to many, a dedicated twin sister, a deeply devoted daughter, a lionheart of a mother, and a loving grandmother. She will be remembered for her resolve, resilience, wit and, most significantly, her unconditional love for those closest to her.
She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Germond and Tara Kessler, their partners Josh Trainor and Christopher Kessler; her grandchildren Liam and Jack Trainor and Wyeth and Willa Kessler; her brother William Germano and his partner Carlene Kotler; and, her father Robert A. Germano. Her mother, Blanche Germano passed away in 2023.
A private service will be held to celebrate and memorialize Roxanne later this year. Donations may be made in her honor to Special Olympics of Rhode Island: https://specialolympicsri.org/.
