

Salvatore J. “Sam” Corio, 89, of North Providence and Davie, FL. passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 surrounded by his loving family from complications of pneumonia. Born in North Providence, he was a son of the late Carmelo & Mary (Basile) Corio. He was the beloved husband of Rosemarie E. “Jackie” (Jackvony) Corio for 65 years.
Sam was extremely proud to have served in the Army Air Force as a flight engineer. After his military service, he started his career with Standard Wholesale and then became one of the top producing liquor salesmen for Copley Distributors for over forty years. Since his retirement in 1994, he has enjoyed his winters at Rolling Hills Golf Club in Davie, FL. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Anthony’s Council and a charter member of Kirkbrae Country Club.
Besides his wife, he was a wonderful father to Robert and his wife Annie, Cynthia and her husband Frank and Sal Jr. and his wife Maija. He was very proud of his cherished grandchildren Christopher and his wife Ericka, Dean, Hannah, Matthew, Isabella and Jack.
He was the brother of Rose Poli and the late, Anna, Mary, Russ, James and Peter.
Visitation will be held Monday 4-7 p.m. with his funeral on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
