

NarragansettD'Ambra, Vincent C. Jr., "Papa", 76, of North River Drive, died unexpectedly Friday at Backus Memorial Hospital, Norwich, Connecticut, after being stricken at the Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Ledyard. He was the husband of Jean E. (Carnevale) D'Ambra. They had been married for 47 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Vincent C. and Florence (DelSesto) D'Ambra Sr., he had lived in Providence most of his life. Mr. D'Ambra was a firefighter for the Providence Fire Department for 20 years, retiring in 1976 with the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of the Providence Firefighters Union, Local 799, the Providence Permanent Firemen's Relief Association, and the Retired Providence Police and Firefighters Association. He had also owned the Yankee Merchant Group, Boston, Massachusetts, for several years. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Beside his wife Jean, he leaves two daughters; Christine L. D'Ambra of West Warwick, Debra J. Teixeira of Warwick, two sons; James R. D'Ambra of Hanover, Massachusetts, Vincent J.D'Ambra, (Captain PFD) of Narragansett, a brother; Michael D'Ambra of Chicago, Illinois, and fourteen grandchildren, including his special granddaughter, Amanda D'Ambra. He was the father of the late Lynn Ann D'Ambra, and brother of the late Anthony D'Ambra and Edward D'Ambra. The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, at 10:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt117) Warwick. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 - 8 pm.
