

Virginia J. Avanzo (Quinn) 79, of Johnston, formerly of Roswell, GA and Cranston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Frank Avanzo. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Christopher A. and Catherine (Grossi) Quinn. She worked for Citizens Bank and Fleet Bank/Bank of America for 17 Years prior to retiring in 2007. Virginia loved music, especially big bands and Drum and Bugle Corp, flowers, playing bingo at Foxwoods, and spending time with all of her friends. She was also a lifelong Red Sox fan. Most of all she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She leaves her five children, Catherine DeIngenis, and her husband, Joseph of Roswell, GA, Tammy Pelletier, of Plainfield, CT, Frank Avanzo, of New Orleans, LA, Angela Avanzo, of Chesapeake, VA, and Christopher A. Avanzo, and his wife, Michelle, of Johnston with whom she lived; a brother, Christopher Quinn, and his wife, Violet, of North Providence; two sisters, Judith Mangano, and her husband, Richard, of Warwick and Cynthia Vanni, and her partner, Jane Dunn, of Cranston; seven grandchildren, Robert DeIngenis, and his wife Tara, Joseph DeIngenis, Cira Desmarais, and her husband Jonathan, Dana DeIngenis, Christian Clevinger, and Adam and Nathan Gray; and eight great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Samuel, Benjamin, Joshua, and Lylah DeIngenis, Joseph Forte, Gianna Desmarais, and Adam Christian Gray Jr. Her funeral will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, in Saint Paul Church, One Saint Paul Place, Cranston. Interment will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Flowers are encouraged.
