Virginia Santos

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert and Anna (Ribeiro) Tavares; mother of Frank “Chico” Santos Jr. and his wife Wilmette, Debra A. Santos-Barnes, Dorreen Fortes and her husband Joseph, Lysa Davis and her husband Ronald, and the late Diane Santos; grandmother of Marjorie, Melissa and her husband Cordell, Jayar, Tiffani, TeJae, Joseph Jr., Brittani and Renzi; great-grandmother of Katja, Jaelin, Jamier, Najah, Madison, Fallon, Mila, Dalayisha, and Jaliyah; sister of the late Gilbert and Rudolph Tavares, and Beatrice Rogers.

Virginia had worked for Sodexo as a food server at the Bishop McVinney Middle School for 18 years before retiring. She was also a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick Church. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, 5-8 p.m. with her funeral on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence, with burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
