

Narragansett: Boyle, Walter V. Jr. , 89, of Sakonnet Blvd died Saturday at South County Hospital. He was the husband of the late Bernadette I. (SanSouci) Boyle.Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Walter V. and Ann A. (Doorley) Boyle.Mr. Boyle was a business manager for New England Telephone Company for 34 years, retiring in 1980. He was US Army Captain for the Infantry Division during World War II. He graduated from Providence College in 1939, receiving a Ph.B and was awarded the Golden Friars Award in1989 and the Washington County Alumnus of the Year Award in 1993. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, The Sons of Irish Kings, and The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of South County. He is survived by his son Walter V. Boyle, III and his wife Janet of Narragnasett and his daughter, Madeline Anne Reilly and her husband James, of Narragansett, his sister, Marguerite M. Boyle of Providence, his sister in law, Sister Madeleine SanSouci, RSM, formerly of Salve Regina University, Newport, four grandchildren, Colleen M. Boisclair, Michael P. Reilly, Peter J. and Karen A. Boyle.His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:30am from the Russell J. Boyle&Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd. (Route 117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am in St. Augustine Church, Mt. Pleasant Ave Providence. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours, Tuesday, 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bishop Russell J. McVinney Memorial Foundation, 485 Mt. Pleasant Ave, Providence, RI 02908 in his memory would be appreciated.
