

WarwickWilliam J. Carroll, 58, of Hoxsie Avenue, died Wednesday at Harborside Healthcare, Pawtuxet Village, Warwick, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence, a son of Helen M. (Corley) Carroll of Warwick, and the late William J. Carroll, he lived in Warwick most of his life. Bill was a Detective with the Providence Police Department for thirty years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Providence Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge # 3, and the Retired Providence Police & Firefighters Association. Mr. Carroll served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a communicant of Saint Timothy Church. Bill leaves two sons, Sean M. Carroll, also a Detective with the Providence Police Department, of Coventry, and Michael J. Carroll of Warwick; two grandchildren, Kaylynn and Nathan Carroll, and a brother-in-law, Edward Grayson of Providence. He was a brother of the late Susan Carroll. The funeral will be held Saturday, at 8:15 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Saint Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Friday, 4 - 8 pm.
