

William E. “Billy” Volpe, 66, “King of the keyboards”, passed away July 13, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Mario and Gilda (DiNunzio) Volpe. He had been the former husband of the late Kim M. (McGarry) Volpe.
Mr. Volpe was a life-long musician. At the age of 6, he was the recipient of the Epstein Award for his musical ability playing the accordion. He was inducted in the Wanskuck Alumni Hall of Fame in 1988. As an employee and musician of the City of Providence, he entertained many senior citizens. Billy was always ready to make someone laugh. He dedicated his life to making people smile through his music.
He was the beloved father of Jami L. Volpe-Coletta and her husband Steven Colleta, Tammy Andreozzi and her husband Anthony and William Volpe and his wife Christine; brother of Carol A. Romano; grandfather of 4.
Visitation will be held Friday, 4-8 p.m. with funeral services on Saturday at 10 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Ann Church Memorial Fund, 2 Russo Street, Providence, RI 02904.
