Zita Lanni

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Olinda (de Jesus) Săo Bento and the late Adelaide (Reis) Săo Bento.

She leaves a loved daughter Carol Ann Souza and her husband Alfred, a loved son John J. Lanni, an attorney in East Providence and his wife Pamela Mahoney. She was the mother of the late baby Linda Jean Lanni and sister of the late William San Bento and wife Celeste, the Honorable Augusto Săo Bento and wife Carmela, and RI District Court Judge Antonio Săo Bento. His wife Gloria currently resides in East Greenwich.

Zita had worked as a professional hairdresser. She taught at the JoAnn School of Hairdressing and was later employed by the State of RI School Lunch Program. She enjoyed playing board games, cards and puzzles, as well as spending time and dining out with family and friends. She loved her cats and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Zita’s family would like to thank her personal care givers and friends Rosinda and Sally.

Visitation and funeral services will be held Tuesday, 9-10:30 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 32 Lawn Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.handsomedansrescue.org.
