Alan Perry Knight, affectionately known as “Skeeter,” “Starman,” “Pappage,” and “Redhead,” left this world on November 27, 2024, after a courageous six-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Born to Thomas and Helen (Hahn) Knight on December 8, 1955, in Fort Collins, CO, Alan lived a life of laughter, joy, and a playful spirit that endeared him to everyone lucky to know him.
Alan’s goofy sense of humor and quick wit were his hallmarks, effortlessly brightening every room he entered. Whether cracking a clever joke, playfully teasing a loved one, or unleashing his contagious laugh, he brought joy everywhere he went. His playful nature and knack for finding joy in even the simplest moments endeared him to his family and friends.
Beneath the jokes and laughter lay a heart filled with immense love and devotion, especially for his wife of 49 years, Connie, and his children, Nicole, Brian, and Katie. Alan’s world revolved around Connie and his children, and his entire family, including his mother and siblings, Tommy Knight, Janet Arnold (Carolyn), Deborah Henninger (David), Marion Knight, and Christine Faudel (Michael). As a beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, father, friend, and neighbor, Alan built a life defined by unwavering love, steadfast support, and a contagious zest for life.
Alan’s passion for music was legendary. His family recalls how his favorite songs filled their home with rock, rhythm and blues, creating cherished memories of impromptu serenades and air guitar solos. Alongside his love for music was a deep fascination with the mysteries of the universe. Alan spent countless hours marveling at the cosmos, often losing himself in documentaries like How the Universe Works. His awe of the infinite spoke to his profound connection with God and his desire to understand the bigger picture.
Alan’s love for life was matched only by his loyalty to the Green Bay Packers. Friends and family who joined him to watch a game knew they were in for an unforgettable experience—filled with passionate cheers, lively commentary, and, occasionally, some “colorful” language. Go, Pack, Go!
Through life’s challenges, Alan’s resilience and humor never wavered. From his humble beginnings to his successful career in finance, he embodied strength, perseverance, and generosity. Alan’s legacy lives on in his children, who carry forward his love, strength, and humor, and in his seven adoring grandchildren—Autumn, Jenna, Julia, Colin, Emelyn, Dominic, and Lucas—who will forever cherish their Grandpa’s sweet spirit and boundless love.
Throughout his life, Alan carried a zest for living that never wavered, even during life’s challenges. His humor and resilience were a guiding light, a testament to his strength, perseverance, and generosity. Alan leaves a legacy of laughter, love, and discovery—a roadmap for living life to the fullest. Alan will be deeply missed but always remembered. His life was a celebration of love, laughter, and discovery; in that spirit, his family and friends will gather to honor him.
