Barb was a graduate of West Tech High School in Cleveland. She relocated her family to Colorado in 1979, and loved the mountains and training and riding her horses. In addition to raising 4 children, she drove school bus for Platte Canyon School District for many years, making a lasting impact on the students and staff she worked with. She later found her calling when she joined the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher. Her passion, work ethic and sharp intellect were quickly noticed and she worked her way up to manager of communications. After an accomplished career of nearly 20 years at Jeffco she decided to retire. In 2001, Barb met Max McCartney, the love of her life. They were married 3 years later and relocated to Pueblo West, where they built a beautiful life together. Retirement definitely did not slow Barb down…. She spent her time using her many talents in interior design, gardening and landscaping. She painted and beautifully decorated their new home, and despite the challenge of growing things in Pueblo West, she created a grand oasis. Barb and Max were blessed with many wonderful neighbors and dear friends in Pueblo. Their involvement in the Sky Corral model club afforded Barb the opportunity to make her impact there as well, as they hosted the club’s annual Fly In and BBQ at their home. But above all of her many accomplishments, Barb will be remembered most for her dynamic personality, great sense of humor, and fierce love for her family and friends.
Services will be held Tuesday June 24, 2014, 1:00pm at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel. The family would be honored for friends to join them following the Memorial Service at the home of Max and Barb McCartney for lunch and celebration of Barb’s life.
Arrangements under the direction of Adrian-Comer Funeral Home, Pueblo, CO.
