Born in Pueblo, Colorado, he was the son of Pablo and Socorro Marmolejo. He was the second of five children. He graduated from East High School in 1965. He served in the US Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist for 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1969. He worked and retired from CF&I Steel Mill as a Millwright Journeyman for 42 years. Throughout his career, he continued to take classes from Pueblo Community College and the University of Southern Colorado.
Growing up, he enjoyed playing sports. As a kid through high school, he played football, track, and baseball and continued to play baseball in his adult years. He was an avid sports enthusiast who loved to watch the Broncos and the Rockies despite the team’s ups and downs. Our family’s fondest memories were when the Broncos won their first Super Bowl.
He enjoyed learning new skills. If he didn’t know how to do something, he would go to the library to read how to do it. He was a jack of all trades. He did it all from masonry, welding, landscaping, to home improvement. He had to learn, because Lee always had a list of “to do’s”.
Charles was a kind, quiet, hardworking man who would do anything to help someone out. Those who worked with him always had a tremendous amount of respect for him. He enjoyed the outdoors, sports, and most of all his family. He was a faithful husband and loving father whose life revolved around his family. He was there for every performance, sporting event, birthday, celebration and disappointment. He especially loved to spoil his lovely wife. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his spouse Leduvina Marmolejo; Children, Tina Lardner and Gina (Duane) Hughes; Grandchildren, Joshua (Monica) Pearce, Justin Pearce, Kristen (David) Pearce, Nicholas Lardner, and Megan Lardner; Step grandson, Julian Hughes; Great-grandchildren, Liam Padilla, Logan Padilla, and Catalea Pearce.
