

Charles Anthony “Charlie” Nichols, 57, of Pueblo West, passed peacefully on November 4, 2016 after a brief illness at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo. Charlie was born on March 4, 1959 in La Junta, Colorado and graduated from La Junta High School. He worked for the Santa Fe Railway in La Junta from 1978 through 2000, first as a Telecommunication Technician and then as a Locomotive Engineer. Charlie was a Reserve Police Officer for the La Junta Police Department from 1977 through 1980, and a Reserve Deputy for the Otero County Sheriff’s Office from 1986 through 2003. Upon retirement, he left La Junta and moved to Pueblo West. Charlie loved the outdoors, shooting sports, and as a former Eagle Scout and member of the Kiowa Clan of the Koshare Indians, he loved the Boy Scouts of America. Charlie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was always ready to help in any way he could. His caring example will be missed. Charlie is survived by his loving mother Mary Jean Nichols of La Junta, and loving sister Barbara Ann Nichols (Glen Sommer) of Isleton, California. He is also survived by his dog Bear, countless friends and family members, and his best friend, David Rooks and family. He is predeceased by his beloved son, Chance Nichols and his father Barney “Nick” Nichols, both of whom Charlie missed terribly. Services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 10:00 at Adrian Comer Funeral Home in Pueblo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Charles Nichols to the Otero County Sheriff’s Office, or the Boy Scouts of America.
