

Born in Pueblo, Colorado in May of 1937, Chester graduated from Pueblo County High School in 1955 and also attended CSU-Pueblo, studying Nursing. He served in the US Navy Reserves as a radioman and a hospital corpsman, assisting professional medical personnel on the USS Ticonderoga, which was one of the many highlights enjoyed during his life.
Another highlight and joy was when Chester married Syble N. Bruce in Pueblo, Colorado July 29, 1954 and began their family. Chester was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, nephew, brother, uncle and cousin. Family time was always cherished.
Chester’s strong work ethic began on the family’s farm, Chet’s Ranch Market, and Colorado State Hospital. Chester worked with unions via AFL-CIO/AFSCME for many years prior to joining and retiring from the Colorado Division of Labor and Employment.
An athlete (wrestling and football) in High School, Chester had many hobbies and was passionate about all including hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing, golfing, bowling and riding motorcycles.
Chester is predeceased by his parents, Hugh E. and Marian Burry, older brother, Marion E. Burry, brother in law, Glenn Heller, great granddaughter, Madelyn Ann Bennett and great grandson, Dominic Matthew Allen Burry.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Syble N. Burry, Parker, children Chester Allen (Jennifer) Burry, Denver, Deloris A. Cuba, Parker, Jodie A. (Douglas) Bennett, Kiowa, Deborah K. Burry (Darryl Lawrence), Arvada, grandchildren, Matthew (Brittany) Burry, Thornton, Michele (Alex Adrienne) Burry, Denver, Shannon Burry, Oakland, Nathan Cuba, Parker, Tiffany (Derrick) Norris, Kiowa, Tyrel (Amanda) Bennett, Ft. Rucker, Alabama, Zachary Lawrence, Arvada, great grandchildren Ariston and Haylee Sue Norris and Camdyn Bennett, and siblings Marie Heller, Pueblo; Helen (Joe) Maldonado, Greeley; Lawrence (Carol) Burry, Pueblo, sister in law, Dorothy Burry, Pueblo, one aunt Marge Evans, Pueblo and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial service Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2:00 pm at TG McCarthy Funeral Home, 329 Goodnight Avenue, Pueblo, Colorado.
Celebration of Life party Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Arapahoe Bowling Center, 6850 S Dayton St., Englewood, Colorado.
